Located about 1,000 meters above sea level, Hà Giang’s terrain is predominantly mountainous, yet nature has also blessed it with flowing rivers. The Hà Giang travel map can be divided into three main areas:

  • North: 90% of the area is composed of limestone mountains and valleys. The roads here are quite winding due to steep cliffs. This area includes districts like Đồng Văn, Quản Bạ, Mèo Vạc, and Yên Minh.
  • West: Known for its terraced fields, a visit in May will allow you to witness the water pouring season, while September is the time for golden rice fields. This area is popular among both domestic and international tourists, and includes districts like Hoàng Su Phì and Xín Mần.
  • Lower Mountainous Region: This is an ideal place to explore fields of buckwheat flowers and mustard flowers from October to December. Districts in this area include Bắc Mê, Vị Xuyên, Bắc Quang, and Hà Giang City.

2. Hà Giang Travel Map - Journey Overview

To enjoy a complete tour of Hà Giang, it’s a good idea to equip yourself with a map. You can choose between a paper map or an online map on your phone. Here’s more information:

Marking the destinations you want to visit on your paper map will help you find your way quickly and conveniently.

2.2. Online Travel Map of Hà Giang

The online version of the Hà Giang travel map is the most commonly used. Compared to a paper map, using an online map is much more convenient. With Google Maps, you can easily find routes and tourist destinations, as the app provides the shortest and easiest paths.
However, due to the mountainous terrain in Hà Giang, when traveling to places like Mèo Vạc or the Hạnh Phúc Road, internet and network coverage can be unstable. Thus, it’s best to have both an online and a paper map for backup.
