You may not know that Vietnam has two Column No. 0 markers: one in Ha Giang, located on Nguyen Trai street in the city center near the square, post office, and administrative center of the province. This is the starting point of National Highway 2, connecting Ha Giang and Hanoi. The second Column No. 0 is on the Ho Chi Minh trail, located in the special national relic site Pac Bo, Cao Bang.
Many "first-time travelers" to Ha Giang might think that Vietnam’s Column No. 0 is located at the country’s northernmost point – Lung Cu Flagpole in Dong Van District. However, that's not the case! Ha Giang Column No. 0 is in the city center, situated inside a park, facing Square 26-3, next to the Lo River.

2. How To Get To Ha Giang Column No. 0
If you start from Hanoi, it will take about 300km, equivalent to 7-10 hours of travel. For those unfamiliar with the roads or not confident drivers, taking a bus is the suitable option. Some bus companies you can choose to travel from Hanoi to Ha Giang include Bang Phan, Hai Van, Quang Nghi, Hung Thanh...
Ha Giang Column No. 0 is about 2-3km from the new Ha Giang bus station, so it’s easy to get there by taxi, car, motorbike, or even walk if you're staying at a nearby hotel or guesthouse.
When you arrive, you'll find two Km0 markers, one old and one new. The old one is still preserved, while the new one is made of granite. Photography enthusiasts often take pictures at both markers.
The Old Km0 Marker In Ha Giang Is Placed Right On The Sidewalk, So Tourists Can Simply Stop Their Vehicle To Snap A Quick Picture.
The new Km0 marker is located inside a nearby park. With a spacious surrounding area, this marker is larger and more impressive. It’s made of granite, stands about 3 meters tall, and consists of three sections. The bottom part is a pedestal with four trapezoidal sides, the middle is a rectangular column, and the top is a sphere. The marker is engraved in Vietnamese and Chinese with information about Ha Giang, KM0, the establishment date, area, and some other details.
You can visit Ha Giang Column No. 0 at any time of the year, but it's best to go during spring and autumn. These seasons offer the perfect opportunity to check in at km0 while also exploring other famous attractions in Ha Giang, such as buckwheat flowers, ripe rice fields, or local spring festivals.
